1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Gathering Place Properties ("GPP", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you use the Homestead mobile application (the "App"). By creating an account or using Homestead, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — your email address, full name, and password (securely managed via our authentication provider) when you register or sign in.
- Property & asset data — names, addresses, descriptions, condition, status, and photos for properties and assets you add to the App.
- Documents — manuals, receipts, and warranty files you choose to upload and attach to an asset.
- AI asset scan photos — when you use the AI Asset Scan feature, photos of an appliance's data plate or label are sent to a third-party AI provider to identify the brand, model, and serial number, and to generate suggested maintenance tasks.
- Barcode data — if you scan a barcode, the barcode number is sent to a third-party product database to retrieve product details.
- Maintenance & reminder data — schedules, due dates, and completion or snooze history you create.
- Device & push notification data — device model, operating system version, and a push notification token used to deliver reminders.
- Subscription & purchase data — your subscription plan, status, and renewal dates, processed via RevenueCat and your App Store or Google Play account. We never receive or store your full payment card details.
- Biometric authentication — if you enable Face ID or Touch ID, this is handled entirely on your device by iOS or Android and is never transmitted to or stored by us.

We use the information we collect to:
- Create, secure, and manage your account
- Provide core features — properties, assets, maintenance rules, reminders, and calendar
- Process AI asset scans and barcode lookups you initiate
- Send push and local notifications for maintenance reminders
- Process, renew, and manage your subscription
- Maintain, secure, and improve the reliability of the App
- Respond to support requests you send us
4. Third-Party Services
Homestead relies on the following third-party services to operate. Each provider processes data on our behalf and maintains its own privacy and security practices:
- Supabase — database, authentication, file storage, and serverless functions that power the App.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivers push notifications to your device.
- AI image-recognition provider — processes photos you submit via the AI Asset Scan feature to identify appliances and suggest maintenance tasks.
- Barcode lookup provider — processes barcode numbers to retrieve product information.
- RevenueCat — manages subscription status and entitlements across devices.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — process subscription payments on our behalf; we never see your card details.

6. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in a Postgres database with row-level security policies, meaning your account can only access your own records. Data is encrypted in transit using TLS and at rest by our infrastructure provider. Photos and documents are stored with access policies that restrict them to your account. While we work hard to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
7. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is permanently and irreversibly deleted as described in our Account Deletion page, except where certain records (such as subscription transaction history held by Apple, Google, or RevenueCat) must be retained for legal, tax, or accounting purposes.
8. Your Rights & Choices
- You can view and update your profile and data directly within the App.
- You can manage notification preferences from Profile → Notifications.
- You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time — see Account Deletion.
- Depending on your location, you may have additional rights (for example under the GDPR or CCPA) to access, correct, port, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@homesteadapp.com.
9. Children's Privacy
Homestead is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. International Users
Our service providers may process and store information in countries other than the one in which you live. By using Homestead, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in such countries, which may have data protection laws that differ from those of your jurisdiction.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, provide notice within the App.
